The lessons available to you depend on whether you have signed up for the Basic Box or  the Premium Box

As a general rule you can assume that the faster your internet connection the better the quality. At a minimum you should have a DSL 1000 though faster would be preferable. We can adjust the quality for individual lessons to suit most people’s connection speed. Dial up connections will not work with englishbox. If you are not aware of your connection speed, then please ask your Internet Service Provider.

Slow connections may result in the following: 

• Bad picture quality with small delays and a stuttering image.
• Audio might also be affected in extreme cases though this is less likely and we can adjust it whilst you are online.

You will need a reasonably new computer which should not be older than 5 years. Specifications are Pentium 4 2.4 ghz and 512 RAM and a graphics card. Most newer computers, and certainly computers less than 3 years old, should have no problems with englishbox.

You will have plenty of opportunity to try out our service to see if it works before we ask for any payment.

In order to participate in englishbox it is very helpful if you own a webcam. Whilst you might be able to participate without one you will miss out on the human and interactive element of englishbox. There are many different webcams available on the market starting from as little as 20 Euros. We recommend the Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 as it has excellent picture quality and it will always work with englishbox.

Once you have installed the software that comes with your camera you are ready to take part in our lessons. If you would like to take part in small groups or solo lessons then we kindly ask that you have a webcam available.

In order to avoid any feedback you will need to have headphones. Having speakers and a microphone are switched on at the same will result in feedback which is unpleasant for yourself and other participants.

Problems can also arise if your microphone is set at too low a level. To solve this there are two possibilities:

1) Once you are in the virtual class room, right click and and click settings, then the microphone symbol. You can then set the volume and hear how loud your microphone is.

2) You can also adjust the microphone control on your own PC. Click start, device manager and then sound. This is however different on every computer. Refer to your manual. 

On a mac computer this is all automatic.

You will need the Macromedia Flash Player 10 or above to use of englishbox. If it is not installed on your computer you can do this now by clicking here to avoid any disappointment. It is possible that you're computer will not allow this, but simply click in the top right of your screen when prompted to allow the downlad. When you try to enter the class room again you will be asked if you want to allow the Flash Plug In to work on your computer. Click allow and the lesson can begin.

If you don't have time now then don't worry too much as you will be reminded again whenever you try to enter our virtual classroom.

For this there are two main areas

1) My englishbox

2) Live Lessons (Flash interactive)

In my englishbox you can browse and start the lessons. You can only enter the room when you see a green play button. If you want to find out more details about the lesson just click on the magnifying glass. You can then download and review any course material prior to entering the lesson.

During the English lessons you don’t  have many functions as the teacher will provide everything you need. You can talk to your teacher by pressing the call button. The teacher will however guide you through the lesson and show you how everything works.We also have an interactive whiteboard which you can use to help you in your learning process. 

We have made the payment system as simple as possible. This means that at the moment there are only two price levels. One for the Basic Box and another for the Premium Box. A detailed explanation is available on the Book Course/Register page.

One-to-one lessons can be arranged, please write us an email via our contact form.

We will remind you seven days before your subscription is due to run out. If you wish to continue, payment will be due every 28 days via your chosen payment method. It is also easy to cancel your subscription. Simply log in, go to "My Details" and click "cancel subscription". We will then ask if this was your intended action. If you click yes then you have successfully removed your account, and you will receive a confirmation email from us. 

You can take part in lessons for the duration of the 28 day period that you have paid for. To continue you need to pay again. If you have any further questions, please contact contact us.
